Hey there,
I hope this post finds you in good spirits! Today, I wanted to share a personal journey with you – one that I believe many of us can relate to, especially when facing our own obstacles in life.
Recently, my husband Brandon and I have been hit with a series of unexpected setbacks. From Brandon breaking his second surfboard in six months to him fracturing his foot, and to top it off, me accidentally damaging our newly-approved car shortly after getting the green light to drive it – it felt like life was throwing everything at us at once.
In moments like these, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, frustrated, and even defeated. I’ll be honest – I let myself feel it pretty big when I watched our car back into a cement wall ~ tears were shed. However, amidst the chaos, I noticed something different about how I was handling these challenges compared to before.
I realized that my nervous system had developed a newfound capacity to cope with adversity. Despite the stressors piling up, I found myself responding with a sense of calm and resilience that I hadn’t experienced before. This shift didn’t happen by chance; it was the result of intentional practices, one of which I’d like to share with you today: Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) tapping.
Regular EFT tapping has been a game-changer for me in managing my stress response to life’s curveballs. It’s a simple yet powerful tool that involves tapping on specific meridian points on the body while focusing on thoughts and feelings associated with the problem at hand. Through this practice, I’ve been able to create space within my nervous system, allowing me to navigate challenges with greater ease and clarity.
Now, you might be wondering, what exactly is nervous system capacity?
In simple terms, nervous system capacity refers to our ability to regulate and adapt to stressors and challenges in our environment. It’s like a muscle that can be strengthened over time through practices like mindfulness, meditation, and techniques such as EFT tapping.
When our nervous system has ample capacity, we’re better equipped to handle life’s ups and downs without being overwhelmed. We’re able to respond from a place of resilience rather than react from a state of heightened stress or anxiety.
So, as we navigate our own individual journeys filled with unexpected twists and turns, I encourage you to explore practices that can help expand your nervous system capacity. Whether it’s through mindfulness, meditation, EFT tapping, or other techniques, know that you have the power to cultivate resilience in the face of adversity.
Remember, it’s not about avoiding challenges altogether but rather developing the inner strength to weather any storm that comes our way.
Wishing you peace, resilience, and abundant growth on your path ahead,
Ashley
